The German Thomas Heger, arrested in Southeast Asia, talks to his three new friends and has to say goodbye.
I’m watching TV again. Only twenty minutes later, the two friends are back with cake and coffee. Mik has already sent 2.000 Piso to Vicente by Western Union. He gives me the remaining money and the VISA card.
“Well, Officer Sarang and Pangutana, now it’s time to say goodbye. Thank you very much for the pleasant stay in your nice police station,” I joke.
“We’ll see you again tomorrow morning,” replies Officer Sarang, looks sadly at Officer Pangutana and adds: “At 4:30 p.m. our service ends for today. That’s why I’d like to take you back to the cell after coffee. At four o’clock is the end of the visiting time anyway. Mik can then sleep in the tower.
Sadly, we’re drinking coffee. “May Mik fill my thermos bottle with hot water.”
“Of course!”
Officer Sarang and I shake hands to say goodbye. “I will miss you, sir!”
“Come and visit us when the story has been laid down in court!” the officer replies seriously.
“Sure, I’ll bring chicken and grilled pork.”
We laugh heartily, and Officer Pangutana takes me to the cell. Mik stays at the watchtower.

This is the last chapter of the Novel.
We sit on the Toyota police pick-up and let ourselves be rocked by the dense traffic. Mik gave me the yellow cell phone and I have just enough load left to text Marie, sister Sabine and my mom that I am now on my way to the city jail. I also send text messages to Franco and Marielou. Then the battery is at the end, and the load is almost used up. “Mik, please buy me for 200 Piso load.”
The parents of the four children behave like newly in love teenagers and can not let go of each other. And that even though the oldest child is already at least twelve years old. They show absolutely no grief that the father has to go to jail. Mik talks to the two of them briefly and then explains to me that it is only a small robbery and that the problem will be settled next week — out of court — with a sum.

The German Thomas Heger, who was arrested in the Philippines, has a last, private conversation with the investigator Police Superintendent Ma’am Papillio.
Then I sign the transfer certificate to the city jail. “Ma’am, what can I expect there? Do they have Internet?”
“I know the warden personally and have put in a good word for you. You get your own bed in the cell of the trustees. This cell is not locked. As a trustee, however, you will have to do small tasks.”
“Thank you very much for the good words you have put in there for me. Do they have Internet?”
“Warden Sir Ballmoro told me on the phone that there will be a solution. Officer Sarang had informed me that you asked for it.”
“The nice Officer Sarang.”
“You found a new friend,” says Ma’am Papillio happily. She’s getting serious again. “I would like to ask you something outside the protocol. The conversation today is also not an interrogation and will not appear anywhere. You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.” Ma’am is visibly looking for words: “Do you like the little Filipinos? Because, you have chosen five very handsome boys for your journey. Isn’t there a little boy eroticism involved? Isn’t it the case that you not only like the boys, but love them?”
I swallow, have to digest what I have just heard, wipe the sweat from my face with the small cloth: “No, Ma’am!” Then I cough into the cloth: “Yes of course, I like them. I’m happy when they’re happy. When I can see the shining eyes. But no more!”
