Synopsis
The German, Thomas Heger, who was arrested in the Philippines, is experiencing a very bitter hour.
Excerpt
Attorney De Baron looks at his wristwatch: “It should be 120k again. We really have a lot of work to do.”
“Yes, of course!” I repeat lost in thought. “120.000 Pisos!” Sarcastically, I say: “That’s only almost 2.400 Euros!” I look around and notice that my visitors from the village are looking at me. “Hey, how was your tour? How are the boys doing? What does the prosecutor say? Did you talk to this woman from the Youth Home?”
The group is silent. When I look into their faces, I immediately realize it’s better not to ask again. Nevertheless, I would like to know: “But the boys are doing well?”
Rica replies: “Our sons were very happy about the lunch, Tommy. They behave like children who have been torn out of their beloved families.”
I swallow.
“Snatched from their parents!” Matthey says bitterly and curses: “Damn, we miss the boys in every nook and cranny!”
Vicente sobs: “Tommy, they long for the village.”
“Homesickness,” Lang explains.
I stroke through my hair frustrated.
Aunty Edin tries to improve the mood with optimism: “Come down. The young educator is nice. They are well taken care of in the Youth Home and it can’t take that long until your boys are able to return to you.” She asks the attorney: “Sir De Baron, how long can the BSWD hold the children?”
